Preparing For Your Pointe Shoe Fitting

SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT

Contact a reputable dancewear store, such as Backstage Dancewear & Gifts, or a professional fitter to schedule your fitting appointment. It's essential to have a trained expert assist you.

PREPARE YOUR FEET

Take care of your feet by keeping your toenails trimmed and neat. Plan to trim your nails 48 hours before your fitting appointment. Healthy feet will make the fitting process more comfortable.

WEAR PROPER ATTIRE

It is not necessary to dress in fitted dancewear, however bringing your convertible tights is preferred. This will allow you to secure any padding you choose for your shoes as well as allow the fitter to accurately assess your feet and ankles.

BRING YOUR SUPPLIES

Bring any padding or toe spacers you currently use for dance. This will help the fitter understand your preferences and needs.

BRING REFERENCE SHOES

If you already have pointe shoes that you love or that fit well, bring them with you to the fitting appointment. The fitter can use them as a reference point to find a suitable pointe shoe style for you. This is also true if you have a pointe shoe you don’t love, a fitter can see the way you are wearing in your shoes and perhaps find a better option.

PREPARE A LIST OF QUESTIONS

Think about any concerns or questions you have about pointe shoes beforehand, and don't hesitate to ask the fitter during the fitting process.
